The federal EB-5 Program allows a foreign national to obtain a green card for him, or herself and family by making an investment of $1 million in a U.S. commercial enterprise. The Business Council of Fairfield County, working in conjunction with UCONN and other institutions, is applying for a license from the US Customs and Immigration Service to establish an EB-5 Center to serve Connecticut companies.

The ideal company candidate is an established, profitable for-profit private company located in Connecticut requiring $500,000 to $3,000,000 in growth capital with a professional business plan demonstrating how it will provide a secure return of invested capital within 3 to 5 years. The recipient of the investment should also be open to participation in the management of the company by the investor, or representative of the investor group if more than one individual is investing in the company.
